(Staples, MN) — In a release from Lakewood Health Systems, the continuing surge of COVID cases and its variants becoming prevalent has again forced Lakewood to make decisions for the betterment of their staff and patients needs.
According to their Hospital Incident Command Systems, screening colonoscopies and most EGDs will be postponed until after the new year, with reductions and postponements of non-emergent inpatients and outpatient surgeries.
With increased numbers of patients in their Quick Care and emergency departments, Lakewood has needed to increase the number of staff for proper care of patients as well as time and equipment. Nurses and providers have also been redeployed to other areas within the facility to help with patient care needs.
