Norman County Soybean & Corn Growers Donate to REACH Spirit of Giving Program
Ada, MN — The Norman County Soybean and Corn Growers Association is doing their part to make sure there are no exceptions to the phrase “farmers feed the world.” On Monday afternoon, Norman County Soybean and Corn Growers President Corey Hanson and Treasurer David Swenson presented REACH Director Peggie Chisholm with a $500 check for their annual Spirit of Giving program. The Spirit of Giving Program provides special food baskets containing holiday meal items at Thanksgiving and Christmastime to families in need.
The donation from the Norman County Soybean and Corn Growers will specifically go towards covering the costs of the protein potion of the food basket. President Hanson says they are proud to help out such a great organization and challenges other ag groups to consider giving this holiday season.
REACH Director Peggie Chisholm greatly appreciates the support from local agricultural organizations, such as the Norman County Soybean and Corn Growers, who play a major role in the communities that REACH serves.
The donation from the Norman County Soybean and Corn Growers will be of great assistance to REACH as their demand for food baskets is high and costs are up significantly this year, according to Chisholm.
In the food baskets being distributed to families in need is a 15-pound turkey, 10 pounds of potatoes (donated by the Hawley Lions), stuffing, gravy, cranberries, two cans of vegetables, box of cereal, apple or pumpkin pie, a gallon of milk, and a dozen eggs.
