Barnesville, MN — The Barnesville City Council held their final regular monthly meeting on Monday night. At the meeting the council approved a new garbage contract with Fuchs Sanitation. As part of the new contract, the city will be making the switch to curbside recycling sometime in late winter or spring of 2022, according to Barnesville Mayor Jason Rick.

With the addition of curbside recycling, it will allow the city to close their manned recycling center.

The Barnesville City Council also had their annual truth in taxation hearing and set next year’s levy at just under 10%.

And Mayor Rick reports that a lot of progress is being made in regards to the new Firehall Liquors, which could be up and running in few weeks.

The Barnesville City Council meets on the 2nd Monday of each month.
