Halstad, MN — The Halstad City Council held their final regular monthly meeting of the 2021 year on Monday night, December 12th. At the meeting, they approved a resolution of support for the proposed Rural Water Project, which would potentially provide cities in western Norman County with a piped in water supply from North Dakota. The city of Halstad has been spearheading that project and continues to meet with other cities to gather support from them as well, according to Halstad Mayor Darin Johnson.

Now that they are getting support from the surrounding communities, Mayor Johnson talks about what the next steps may be.

Also at this week’s meeting, the Halstad City Council discussed the heating process for the old high school.

And the council opened bids for a new county-wide radio system for the area fire departments, which they will acquire via a grant.

The Halstad City Council also held their annual truth in taxation and approved a 5% levy increase for 2022.
