Minnesota – Nathan Peterson gave the weekly FSA Report for Thursday, December 16th. In the report he covered some important topics local farmers should keep in mind as 2021 comes to a close. Deadlines are approaching for loan programs, including the Livestock Forage Program and the feed transportation program under ELAP. January 31 is the deadline. Peterson encourages listeners to not wait if they are thinking about sending in an application, as the deadline could approach faster than expected. This news is important for producers in East Polk County, as staffing shortages in the FSA offices will affect weekly operations for a period of time.

Normal hours are expected to resume in East Polk County Offices on February 7. Until then, the East Polk County office will be open only two days a week, so scheduling appointments is highly encouraged. More information about the upcoming loan deadlines can be found at farmers.gov.
