Aitkin County Board discusses Commissioner, Elected Officials salaries at December 14th meeting

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, December 14th to open more talks on Commissioner and Elected Officials Salaries from the Government Center Board Room.
The Board did approve a license to sell tobacco products for The Blue Moose on the Lake Inc, an LG220 Application for Exempt Permit/Ducks Unlimited Garrison Wildlife Chapter, Community Corrections Interim Comprehensive Plan, and County Liquor Licenses for 2022.
After a presentation from County Auditor Kirk Peysar, an On, Off, and Sunday Sale Liquor License for Fisherman’s Pay and an Off Sale Liquor License for the Malmo Liquor Store were approved for 2022.
Soil and Conservation District manager Steve Hughes returned to discuss the Upper Mississippi 1 Watershed 1 Plan memorandum of agreement and what that would mean for the County.
The Memorandum was approved, with Commissioner Mark Wedel as the designated representative and Commissioner Anne Marcotte to see as the alternate.
Economic Development Coordinator Mark Jeffers spoke about a request from the Fiscal Recovery Fund to help in recovery of tourism.
The request for $45,500 was approved by Commissioners, with funds to be staggered through the duration of the project.
County Administrator Jessica Seibert opened the discussion for Commissioner salaries for 2022.
The proposed salaries for Commissioners and Elected Officials will be reviewed before being up for Board approval, which will take place at the December 21st meeting.
