Winter Trout Fishing outside of BWCAW opens January 15th

(Minnesota) — Winter trout fishing is currently open lakes within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and opens January 15th for lakes outside or partly outside the BWCAW, with both seasons ending March 31st.
Lakes in Aitkin County that are open to winter trout fishing include Blue, Long, Loon, and Taylor. Streams that can be fished for trout include Two Rivers Spring.
Lakes in Crow Wing County are Allen, Big Trout, Huntington Mine, Mallen Pit, Manuel Mine, Pennington Mine, Pleasant, Portsmouth Mines, Sagamore Mine, Snowshoe Mine, Strawberry, Section 6 Mine, and Yawkey Mine. Streams that can be fished in Crow Wing County include Borden Creek, Spring Brook, Whitley’s Creek, Smith Creek, and Morrison Brook.
