Ag Program and FFA Provide Access to Career Information and Education
Two years ago, the Fosston School Board developed a strategic plan with community members input during listening sessions and discussions . One outcome of the process was the wish for greater student access to career information and technical education. This wish was fulfilled with the hiring of Myla Donovan to develop classes and start up an FFA program. Making custom fishing rods, building tool boxes, creating barn quilts, and overhauling small engines were just some of the opportunities students have in the variety of classes offered at Fosston High School. Donovan spoke about the classes during an FFA Week interview.
Mikayla Hove is the FFA chapter secretary. She talks about the fun week they’ve had celebrating FFA at the Fosston schools.
This past October, FFA members across the state were invited to apply for a Blue Jacket Bright Futures Scholarship. Fosston FFA had seven scholarship recipients. Each received an FFA jacket of their own. Watch the Fosston School District’s Facebook page for updated pictures and information about happenings in the Ag program.
