A’s advance to State Class C baseball tournament
BEMIDJI, MN—The Ada A’s will be going back to the State Class C baseball tournament. The A’s clinched their berth at State Saturday with a 4-1 victory over Dilworth at Bemidji State University. The game was tied one-all when the A’s came to bat in the bottom of the seventh. Clarke Peterson led off with a single, went to second on a passed ball, then scored on a single by Riley Resnick to make it 2-1, A’s. Then Mike Erickson bunted, and the ball was thrown wide of first, allowing Resnick to score and Erickson to reach third. Jonas Sanders hit a sacrifice fly to score Erickson and the A’s had a 4-1 lead they wouldn’t give up. Erickson talks about the victory.
That victory put the A’s into the Region 10C championship game against Bemidji. The A’s took a two-nothing lead in the third inning on an rbi single by Jonas Sanders and a balk by Bemidji pitcher Isaiah Biehn. Zephyr Resnick kept Bemidji off the scoreboard until the seventh, when the Blue Ox tied the game on a two-run single by Turner Storm. Then in the eighth, Bemidji player-coach Cody Rutledge homered to left to put Bemidji in front 3-2. That’s how it ended. And Bemidji finished undefeated in the Region 10C tournament. Erickson talked about the loss.
Even with the loss to Bemidji, the A’s advance to State as the Region 10C runners-up. Erickson talks about going back to State.
The A’s will learn later Sunday or Monday who, when and where they’ll play at the State Class C amateur baseball tournament.
