Voyageur National Park Trail Conditions
Lots of you are ready to hit the trails and experience Voyageurs on a snowmobile. We are hoping that all the trails will be open for adventure soon, but there are some spots that aren’t quite ready.
Voyageurs maintenance crews check ice throughout the week, but have found inadequate thickness and some poor quality ice. At this point, some of the snowmobile trails are not ready for public use. For the most part, portages are in good shape. Where there is currently adequate ice on the lake surfaces, the crews are working on grooming the trials. Wind drifts have been causing rough spots. Once crews can confirm adequate ice thickness, the groomer will be out to smooth out these rough spots and the trails will be open. Trails that are not yet ready to open:
Green from Ash River to Crane Lake
Yellow to kettle falls
Chain of lakes trail
The maintenance crew is constantly evaluating the conditions of the trails, and will open them as soon as it is safe to do so. Thank you for your continued patience. We want everyone to have an enjoyable and safe winter experience.
