DESCRIPTION:Local libraries will host a unique musical event featuring the music and artistry of a professional double reed ensemble. Composed of musicians from around the world, The New York Kammermusiker uses modern instruments to perform modern scores from long-neglected musical manuscripts. Attendees will enjoy free admission and a spectacular evening of music as an international ensemble takes the stage to honor the 250th anniversary of the United States. This special performance will explore our region’s unique historical connections to President Theodore Roosevelt through lively ragtime, as well as traditional Nordic folk songs and classic pieces such as Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Deep River.\nThe performance will also feature a musical tribute to the people of Minnesota, celebrating the ancestors who settled here, the vibrant cultures of today and the experiences that connect us all. Don’t miss this wonderful celebration of community, history and music, which is offered free-of-charge thanks in part to funding from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.\nThe NYC Kammermusiker library tour is sponsored by Lake Agassiz Regional Library and will include visits to the following locations:\nHalstad Living Center\nMonday, August 3 at 2 p.m.\nCrookston Public Library Thursday, August 6 at 2:30 p.m.\nAdmission is free thanks in part to funding from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Legacy Fund.
