Serving played a big role in the outcome of the match Monday night in Oklee as the Bagley Flyers defeated the Red Lake County Central Mustangs 3-1 (25-9, 17-25, 25-22 & 25-23). It was Senior Night for the Mustangs as their eight seniors were honored prior to the start of the match. The two teams combined for 38 service aces with the Flyers recording 26 of those aces. Kathryn Agnew led Bagley with 11 kills and 10 service aces as Bagley improved to 7-11 overall. Kira Thompson added 7 kills and McKenna Melbo and Peyton Proulx each had 5 kills for Bagley. Jamie Flatgard led the Mustangs with 9 kills and 7 service aces as Red Lake County Central falls to 3-12 overall. Marissa Thomas and Paige Olson each recorded 5 kills for the Mustangs. Red Lake County Central won the “B” Squad match 2-0 and the Mustangs also won the “C” Squad match 2-0 over Bagley. The Flyrs return to action on Tuesday, October 4th when they travel to Win-E-Mac (96.7 FM). The Mustangs are off until Thursday, October 6th when they host the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears at Oklee (1480-AM/99.7 FM).
