Fertile, MN — The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons added another W to their record with a 42-12 victory over the Blackduck Drakes and making it known why they are the top team in Section 6 9-Man Football.

The Falcons struck first with a five minute opening drive that ended in a 12 yard Caiden Swenby scramble and touchdown run. On the ensuing possession the offensive struggles began for Blackduck with a three and out and their first of three first half punts in their five first half possessions. The Falcons would score twice more in the first half via the running attack from Sophomore Isaiah Wright from 5 and 32 yards out. Fertile-Beltrami would lead 22-0 at halftime.

The second half kickoff belonged to they Drakes as they desperately tried to get the offense going but they only had the ball for 1:12 followed by a punt. Their defense did force a Fertile-Beltrami interception that set their offense up at their own two yard line. But the Drakes offensive woes went from bad to worse as Falcons Isaiah Wright came up with a pick six on a fourth and short play that wasn’t meant to be snapped to begin with. Blackduck’s Bryce Frenzel would run the ensuing kickoff back 75 yards for a touchdown for their first score of the contest. From there, Fertile-Beltrami would tack on two more scores compared to one for Blackduck and win the game in dominant fashion 42-12.

Fertile-Beltrami is now 7-0 and will travel to Cass Lake-Bena next Wednesday and try to finish of their second consecutive undefeated regular season. Blackduck is now 5-2 and will host the Laporte Wildcats also next Wednesday.
