Thompson’s volleyball team won its home opener Thursday, defeating Carrington three sets to one.  Carrington took the opening set 25-14.  Thompson Coach Lisa Strand says between sets she talked to her team about passing better…and once they did that, it made a big difference.

Something else that made a difference for the Tommies was their blocking.  Summer Hegg, Brenna Martin, Clara Stevens and Reese Danner made a difference at the net.

Thompson won the next two sets, 25-21 and 25-20 before getting nine straight points in the fourth set en route to a 25-8 win…to take the match.  Strand says she saw improvement from Thompson’s performance on Tuesday.

Unofficially, Summer Hegg had 14 kills and two blocks for Thompson, with Clara Stevens adding 11 kills, two service aces and one block assist.  Brenna Martin had nine kills and two block assists as Thompson improves to 2-0 on the year.  The Tommies are off until next Thursday, September 8, when they host Langdon.

Haley Wolsky had ten kills and one block assist for Carrington, as the Cardinals fall to 1-1 on the season.
