Cloquet ran past the Aitkin Gobblers with the fastbreak on their way to 73-55 victory Thursday night from the AHS Gym.

Running up and down the court, both teams were flying to the ball with both teams fighting off short leads. Aitkin hit 7 3-pointers in the first half despite trailing 39-33 at the halftime break. The Lumberjacks were able to pull head at with Marco Mayorga’s 10 points and Conner Barney added 13.

The Gobblers chipped away at the lead and even got it down to a single possession. Untimely turnovers and bad passing gave the Lumberjacks ample chances for easy points. a three point lead early in the first half ballooned to 21 points and the win for Cloquet. Barney finished with a game-high 31 points and added 10 rebounds. Zack MacDonald led Aitkin with 17 points.
