Aitkin overpowered Crosby-Ironton early and took advantage for 15-4 victory in 5 innings on a cold, rainy, windy Friday afternoon.

The Gobblers struck first with 5 runs coming off the first 6 batters in the Top of the 1st led by Gus Sanford’s RBI and Jackson MacDonald’s bases-clearing double. Aitkin then followed up 3 runs in the 2nd with Carson Kullhem, Landon Janzen, and Dayton Halloway all coming across the score.

Through 2 innings, Jake Anderson held the Rangers bats at bay with 3 strikeouts while giving up 2 hits and allowing 1 walk. Aitkin pulled away with 7 runs in the 3rd highlighted by 2-run single from Janzen, 3-run double from MacDonald, Gus Sanford’s RBI walk, and sacrifice fly from Tanner Hills.

On the mound, Tanner Hills came out strong early with 4 strikeouts in the in the 3rd inning but ran into the trouble in the 4th. Following bases loaded walks issued the C-I’s Keyon Weisner, Mason Dahlberg, and Braydon Holmvig, and Ky Gressman, Zack MacDonald got the final out and nail down the win for Aitkin.

Jackson MacDonald finished 2-3 with 2 2B and 6 RBIs for the Gobblers. Gus Sanford drove in 2 runs and Landon Janzen collected 2 RBIs and scored twice. Mason Dahlberg led the Rangers by going 2-3 with and RBI

Aitkin improves 2-0 on the season as they host Pequot Lakes for a doubleheader Tuesday at Woock Field. Crosby-Ironton is now 0-3 with a road doubleheader on Tuesday against Staples Motley.
