Detroit Lakes at Aitkin

A big 2nd inning propelled the Aitkin Gobblers to their 4th straight victory, winning 6-1 over Detroit Lakes in Game 1 of a Mid-State Conference Doubleheader on Tuesday, May 10th.
Detroit Lakes struck first with Siri Vagle scoring on a wild pitch, which was followed by the Gobblers being retired 1-2-3 on 4 pitches after 1 inning of play. Megan Buchholz took to the circle for Aitkin and rallied back for a 1-2-3 Top of the 2nd before doing her own damage at the plate.
The Gobblers pushed a 4-1 lead with Bailey Gabrio’s RBI single and Ella Janzen’s 2-run single. Ailie Kullhem also supplied an RBI bases loaded in the 2nd inning. Gabrio would go on to add an 2-run double in the in the 5th as part of her 3-for-3 perofrmance with 3 RBIs and a run scored.
Buchholz finished with a complete game, 7 inning performance with 6 strikeouts while giving up 1 run on 4 hits. Camille Parenteau and Sophie Snyder both scored twice for Aitkin.
Sidney Borgmann took the loss for Detroit Lakes after pitching 6 innings and picked up 3 strikeouts after giving up 6 runs off 9 hits. Vagle had 2 of the Lakers 4 hits in the loss.
Aitkin has won 4 in a row and improves to 5-3 on the season while Detroit Lakes is 4-5.
