Cuinn Berger’s 35 points propelled the Esko Eskimos after a slow start for a 90-61 win over the Aitkin Gobblers Boys Basketball team in a big Section 7-2A match up Tuesday night.
Aitkin jumped out in front early by slowing down the Eskimo’s speed on the defensive end to lead 7-2 in the 1st half. Couple by turnovers, the Gobblers’ offense had difficulty answering 20 points from Berger and 14 from Makoi Perich before taking a 50-26 halftime lead.
The second half belonged to Berger as he collected 15 points, all of which came from 3pt-range. Berger hit 9-of-13 made 3-pointers for Esko which were opened by Aitkin accounting for 18 turnovers. The Eskimos now have won 8 of their last 9 games. Aitkin was led by Landon Janzen with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Esko is now 13-2 on the season with 6-0 record in Section 7-2A and they hit the road to take on Barnum on Friday. Aitkin is now 3-9 with the Gobblers heading to Detroit Lakes on Thursday.
