The border rivalry between the International Falls and Fort Frances girls hockey teams was renewed last night at Bronco Arena.  The Broncos opened the scoring on a power play goal by Taylor Burns at 4:36 of the first period.  Almost 7 minutes later, the Muskies would score on the power play with Hayden Allam scoring the first of her two goals in the game.  Fort Frances would add two more before the end of the period as Raelle Redford and Piper Cross scored.  The Falls would score first in the second period to cut their deficit to one as the birthday girl, Lola Wade, made it 3-2.  The Muskies responded 17 seconds later on Redford’s second goal and Allam’s second marker would make it 5-2 going to the final period.  Although Fort Frances had multiple good chances in the third, there was no scoring in the third period as Bronco goaltender Mara Pelland finished the game with 55 saves.  After the game, Muskie winger Courtney McCoy who had 3 assists, says renewing the rivalry between the two teams is a big deal.

Jerzi Calder also had 3 assists in the game for the Muskies who will be in Kenora this afternoon to start a weekend tournament.  The Broncos will be back at Bronco Arena tomorrow afternoon to take on Crookston at 3:00.
