A 23-0 run in the second and third quarters propelled ninth-ranked Thompson to a 60-50 victory over third-ranked Grafton Friday night in Thompson….spoiling Grafton’s undefeated start to the season.

Grafton led 14-6 after the first quarter, sparked by a Braylon Baldwin three-pointer from beyond mid-court to end the frame.

Then in the second quarter, the Spoilers would take a 20-10 advantage.  But Grafton didn’t score again for the final 5:44 of the half.  Thompson scored 18 in a row to grab a 28-20 halftime lead.

Thompson would score the first five points of the third quarter before Grafton got on the board again. Then the Spoilers got the last 12 points of that quarter to pull within 42-35 with one quarter remaining.

In the fourth, Thompson’s Jake Starcevic scored nine of his game-high 23 points to keep the Tommies in front and get the victory.

Drew Overby added 19 points and Carter Peterson 12 for Thompson. The 5-3 Tommies play at Cavalier on Thursday.

Ryan Hanson scored 17 to lead Grafton, with Abram Sevigny adding 11.  The 6-1 Spoilers host Hillsboro-Central Valley on Tuesday.
