Greenway at Aitkin

Solid pitching carried the Greenway Raiders to a Section 7AA doubleheader sweep over the Aitkin Gobblers Thursday by the scores of 6-0 and 9-5 in Aitkin.

Miranda Gernander stiffled the Gobblers in the Game 1, going all 5 innings and struck out 7 batters while giving up 2 hits and 2 walks. Gernander and Jadin Saville drove in 2 runs each. Jocelyn Mikulich and Ava Johnson also scored twice. Megan Buchholz and Sophie Snyder had the lone hits for Aitkin.

Despite an early 4-0 lead, the Raiders squandered their lead with Aitkin grabbing 4 runs in the Top of the 4th inning which included RBI singles from Kendal Ratz and Ailie Kullhem. The following inning, Greenway was able to put the game away by scoring 5 runs off a pair of Gobbler errors. Gernander went the distance again and gave up 6 hits and struck out 4. Jadin Saville collected 3 RBIs and Lexi Hammer scored 3 times.

Aitkin is now 8-8 on the season as they will host Mora Thursday at 4:30pm, which will be Senior Night and broadcasted live on KKIN-AM 930/FM 103.1 “The Gobbler”
