Hawley vs. Thief River Falls
Recap
Thief River Falls 66, Hawley 65
Jack Rosendahl’s layup with 14 seconds to play gave Thief River Falls a 66-65 victory over Hawley in the Section 8AA semifinals Wednesday night in Detroit Lakes.
Just before Rosendahl’s winning basket, Hawley’s Sam Senske sank two free throws to put the Nuggets on top 65-64 with 30 seconds to play.
Hawley had a final chance, with the ball going out of bounds with 1.7 seconds left in regulation. Before the ball could be inbounded, the buzzer sounded–even though the clock never started. The referees conferred and met with both coaches and gave Hawley a second chance. But the inbound pass went astray and the Prowlers got the ball and the victory.
Senske finished the game…and his high school career…with 36 points. The Nuggets end the year 17-10.
Senior Jack Manning led TRF with 26 points with Rosendahl adding 20. The Prowlers improve to 26-2; they face Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Friday night in Detroit Lakes for the Section 8AA title and their first trip to State since 1974.
