International Falls at Virginia
Recap
In a match heard on K104 and rjbroadcasting.com, the International Falls volleyball team faced Virginia for possibly the last time as Virginia becomes Rock Ridge next year. The 1st set was a close one throughout before the Broncos found themselves with 2 set points leading 24-22. Virginia would not go away and scored the next 4 points to take Set 1, 26-24. The second set belonged to the Blue Devils as they won it 25-19. The 3rd set was nearly identical to the first except this time it was the Broncos who would rally to win the set, 26-24, after Virginia had 2 match points. The Falls fell behind 9-1 and 10-3 in Set 4 before they went on the score 10 straight points and took a 13-10 lead. From there, there would be 17 more ties and 7 more lead changes with Virginia finally prevailing 30-28. The Broncos did have 4 set points but could not force a 5th and deciding set. After the match, captain Izzy Valenzuela said its Maddie Lowe who drives the team
Lowe had 8 kills in the match while Olivia Thostenson had 10 kills, 6 ace serves and 2 blocks. The Broncos are now 5-5 on the season and will be off until Tuesday when they host Ely.
