The 55th Hial Pike was held at The River Golf Course yesterday.  For the girls, Abbi Hutchinson from International Falls was the overall champion as she finished in 21 minutes and 10 seconds.  She was followed by 7th grader Lola Hall who placed 5th, Nora Sullivan 10th, Dianne LaVoy 13th, and Loralai Ford 20th.  The Broncos had a team score of 44 which put them in 2nd place behind Ely who had a score of 32.

For the Fort Frances Muskies girls, they were led by Miranda Wilson, who placed 12th, Leah Seguin (Sa-quin) 15th, Payton Dolyny (Doll-a-knee) 16th, Chloe Dolyny 18th, and Alexia Gate 35th for a team score of 84 which placed the Muskies fourth.

On the boys side, the Broncos were led by Camden Deedrick in 16th place.  Christian Kostiuk took 24th, Lachlan Reiners 33rd, Paxton Sivonen 36th, and Max Youso 37th for a team score of 113 which took 5th place.  Ely won the Hial Pike title with a score of 26 followed by Mesabi East with 48 and Fort Frances with 74.

Falls Sophomore Brendyn Scholler says it was a difficult race.

Trent Wilson from Fort Frances was the overall champion and says he was battling a kid from Ely most of the race.

Other finishers for Fort Frances were Rex Tolton in 17th, Jackson Marchant 23rd, Graham Coates 25th, and Ben Gosman 27th.

The Bronco cross country teams are off until next Tuesday for the Iron Range Conference meet.
