The Pequot Lakes Patriots won their 30th game of the season, and will have a chance to end the year with a victory after eliminating Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial.

After a back-and-forth start, Pequot Lakes used a 7-0 run to take the lead and would lead the rest of the way. The run made the score 12-6. After back-to-back buckets for the Knights, the Patriots scored nine straight to push the lead into double figures. The Patriots took a 35-22 lead into the halftime locker room. Maci Martini and Izzy Larson combined for 26 of the Patriots’ 35. Olivia Harazin and Lauren Cooper, two terrific junior guards for LCWM had 21 of the 22 for the Knights at the break.

About five minutes into the second half, the Patriots had pushed their lead to 16 at 43-27. Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial made their run near the halfway point of the second half. Ultimately, the Knights shaved the lead to eight at 59-51, but the Patriots connected on some inside shots and their free throws to ice the game away.

The Patriots improve to 30-2 and will face Montevideo for the consolation championship Friday. Pregame is set for 1:30pm on KLKS Talk 100.1 & rjbroadcasting.com.

Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial finished the year at 26-6. This was their first appearance at state girl’s basketball.
