May-Port CG 0 Thompson 3 (25-16, 25-14, 25-19)

In a matchup of top five North Dakota Class B volleyball teams, #5 Thompson swept #3 May-Port CG in three straight sets Monday night in Thompson.  The win keeps Thompson unbeaten in Region 2 play and was the Patriots’ first Region loss.

The first set was tied 9-all, when Thompson scored five straight points, with Summer Hegg scoring one block and Hegg and Reese Danner combining for another in that run.  The Tommies went on to win the opening set 25-16….and then the second 25-14.

In set three, May-Port rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to lead 9-7.  Thompson fought back as Clara Stevens had four kills, Hegg seven as the Tommies won the third set for the sweep, 25-19.

Hegg had 18 kills, two solo blocks and one block assist for Thompson, who improve to 27-6 overall and 9-0 in Region 2 play.

Danica Hanson had seven kills for May-Port, as the Patriots are now 26-4 on the year and 8-1 in Region competition.
