Recap

In a game heard on Lakes Country 104.1 and rjbroadcasting.com, the 5-1 Senior Legion baseball team faced undefeated Aurora.  The game was a pitcher’s duel between Bryant Koenig from the Falls and Dakota Kruse from Aurora.  The first runs of the game were scored by Aurora in the top of the 3rd as they strung together 2 doubles and a single to take a 2-0 lead.  They would score a single run in the 4th and led 3-0 going to the bottom of the 6th inning.  Kruse from Aurora had allowed only 2 hits to the Falls through five innings before Cody Joslyn knocked in Jett Tomczak with a single to cut the Falls deficit to 3-1 heading to the 7th.  Koening would record 2 of his 9 strikeouts in the top of the 7th and in the bottom of the frame, the Falls would score on a run an error and had the bases loaded with 2 outs before Torin Thompson tried to score from third on a pitch in the dirt.  Thompson was blocked at the plate by catcher Mikko Maki and the game ended in a 3-2 loss for the Falls Post 66.  Head coach Phil Talmage says it was a great game and then talks about the final play of the game.

The Post 66 Senior Legion team is now 5-2 and will travel to Grand Marais on Thursday.
