Moose Lake at Northern Lakes

Mounting penalties and a late 2nd period goal held back the Northern Lakes Lightning Girls Hockey Team in a 2-1 loss against #11A Moose Lake Rebels.
The Rebels were the aggressors from the opening faceoff, tallying 16 shots on goal but came up on the short end early with goals in net. The Lightning got the early advantage with Jasmyn Germain scoring midway through the 1st period before Moose Lake tied it up with Raechel Painovich’s power play goal.
A much more even 2nd period was going the way of Northern Lakes despite two more costly penalties but no goals from the Rebels. With 50 seconds left in the 2nd, Moose Lake took the lead at 2-1 off an even strength goal from Gracie Hartl.
The Lightning weren’t able to mount much of a comeback with spending most of the 3rd period in the penalty box and were out-shot 14-2. Mallory Hartl was able to tally 18 saves on 19 shots in the win for the Rebels.
#11A Rebels are now 13-4-1 on the season as they stay on the road against Duluth on Thursday. Northern Lakes falls to 9-9-1 as they will head to Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Thursday.
