25 saves from Katherine Stephens and 2 late goals from Rose Aldridge got the week started on the right note for the (RV) Northern Lakes Lightning Girls Hockey team for a 3-0 win over North Shore from the Breezy Point Ice Arena.

North Shore came out shooting in the first period, putting up 14 shots on goal compared to the Lightning’s 8. Northern Lakes able to get out in front in the first with Jada Brodzinski tallying the opening goal with 8:05 left in the first.

Second period was a stalemate even with Northern Lakes evening up the shot total at 12-8. The Lightning did not do themselves any favors with 4 penalties in the period, which they were lucky to kill off without surrendering a goal to the Storm.

More of the 2nd period lull followed early in the 3rd but the Lightning got a shot in the arm with Rose Aldridge tallying a power play goal with 10:19 remaining. Aldridge would cap off the scoring with an empty net goal with 1:36 left as Northern Lakes finished the game outshooting the Storm 29-25.

North Shore falls to 4-12 on the season as they face Rock Ridge in Hoyt Lakes Tuesday. Northern Lakes will face #11A Moose Lake Area Tuesday night in Breezy Point, which can be heard on WWWI-F CASH 95.9 and rjbroadcasting.com
