Thompson 3, Oak Grove 1 (25-21, 19-25, 26-24, 29-27)

Thompson’s volleyball team outfought Oak Grove Tuesday night, winning three sets to one in Thompson.

The opening set was back and forth with the Tommies winning 25-21.  Oak Grove used a pair of 6-0 runs to take command of the second set and win that 25-19 to even the match.

In the third set, Oak Grove had set point at 24-23, but a block and a kill by Thompson’s Danica Gross, plus a Grover hitting error gave the Tommies the third set at 26-24.

Set four was close, with Thompson ahead 24-21, but Oak Grove scored three in a row to tie it.  The Tommies would get two set points, then Oak Grove pulled ahead 27-26 for their own set point.  An Oak Grove player in the net tied it at 27, then Thompson’s Kloey Huebner and Danica Gross recorded kills to give the Tommies the set 29-27 and the match.

Gross led Thompson (3-6) with 13 kills and 2 blocks, with teammates Jordyn Tozer and Kloey Huebner getting 9 kills apiece.  Libero Kya Hurst had 45 digs for Thompson.

Alayna Foster-Devold had 11 kills to lead Oak Grove (10-5), with 10 kills by both Mari Bolme (Bolmy) and Taya Rostad.

Thompson hosts Drayton/Valley-Edinburg on Thursday night.  Oak Grove is off until next Tuesday, when the Grovers travel to Wyndmere-Lidgerwood.
