The Northern Lakes Lightning scored their eighth straight victory over Park Rapids Area on ‘Senior Night’ in Breezy Point.
The Lightning struck for three goals in the first, with the opening goal within the first five minutes.
Park Rapids area switched some things up in the second period, and despite a 14-5 shots on goal advantage for Northern Lakes, cut the lead to two. The Panthers tallied two of the three goals in the period, and we went into the third with the Lightning up 4-2.
The game got out of hand early in the third as Northern Lakes found the net three times within the first two minutes and six seconds of the final frame. Two more goals near the midway point made it a lopsided final at 9-2.
The Lightning improve to 11-7, 6-2 in the Mid-State, and travels to Princeton Saturday. Park Rapids had a five-game unbeaten streak snapped, falling to 8-9-1 and plays Crookston Saturday.
