Recap

The opening game of the doubleheader was an instant classic with Pequot Lakes walking off Park Rapids in nine innings.

Four times in the game the Patriots would take the lead, only to have the Panthers tie the game in the very next half inning. The Panthers would never lead in the game.

The game was tied at five after six innings. The Panthers threatened with the bases loaded in the top of the eighth with nobody out, but could not push a run across the plate.

In the bottom of the ninth, the first two reached base for the Patriots with a walk and a single. With a shot of aggression, the Patriots’ runners both took off and stole a bag to make it second and third with nobody out. Clay Erickson then hit a hard single to left to drive in Caden Nelson for the game winner.

It was the Patriots’ first win of the year.
