Pequot Lakes at Aitkin

The #2 seeded Aitkin Gobblers faced an unfamiliar challenge in the passing #7 Pequot Lakes Patriots, they accepted the challenge and commanded for 32-0 win to open the Section 7AAA Playoffs.

Aitkin’s defense wasted little time by making an impact with Zack MacDonald picking off a Grant Loge pass on the second play of the game for an 8-0 lead after Gus Sanford ran in the two-point attempt. Aitkin’s offense would get in on the act with their only score of the first half with Carson Kullhem running in a score from 14 yard out and a 16-0 lead heading into the halftime break.

Pequot Lakes offense did rack up yardage with Grant Loge throwing the ball 33 times bit 3 of those passes were picked off and hindered any chance of getting back into the game against the Gobblers.

Aitkin was able to push the lead out to 24-0 with their first drive of the second half with Kullhem’s second rushing score, from 20 yards out. Kullhem’s impact was also felt with 68 yard run setting up Gus Sanford’s 3 yard touchdown to put the game out of reach at 32-0. Jacob Williams ran one and Sanford also passed to Nathan Price for two point conversions.

#2 Aitkin is now 7-2 on the season and will host the Section 7AAA Semifinals against #3 Two Harbors from Veterans Field at 2pm on Saturday. Pequot Lakes finishes their season at 1-8.
