State AA Quarterfinal Pequot Lakes at #2 Fergus Falls

The Pequot Lakes Patriots saw their 24-game win streak snapped in the state tournament quarterfinals by the Otters of Fergus Falls.

The Patriots started off with the first seven points of the game. Fergus Falls was a little shaky, but the Patriots didn’t take full advantage. The Otters settled in and immediately started dropping threes. MN State-Moorhead bound Tori Ratz connected on a couple from long distance as Fergus Falls went on an 11-0 run and wouldn’t trail again.

After it was 12-12, the Otters went on another tear, with a 9-2 run that put them up nine at 27-18. The Patriots cut the lead to two with a 7-0 run, but the Otters answered with the final five points of the first half to take a 32-25 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, the Patriots simply could not stop the Otters’ offense. Fergus Falls was incredibly efficient, and with keeping the Patriots to only one shot when the missed, the Otters pulled away.

Fergus Falls shot 53.8% from the floor and 47% from beyond the arc for the game.

Pequot Lakes falls to 29-2 and will play either Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial or Minnehaha Academy in the Consolation Semifinals in St. Paul tomorrow.
