Recap

Perham’s defense stifled Pequot Lakes for most of the game on their way to a 27-7 win in the 2021 regular season finale.

Perham scored on their opening drive, setting the tone with some big chunk plays. Chas Melvin broke loose for 55 yards, and that helped set up a one-yard touchdown plunge by quarterback Colton Hackel. The teams traded punts through the rest of the first quarter, with it ending 7-0 Yellowjackets.

The second quarter was all Perham. The Yellowjackets scored on three straight possessions, finding big gaps providing long touchdown runs of 50 and 41 and using a short field after an interception for a 9-yard score. At the half, it was 27-0 Perham, and Pequot Lakes only managed 60-total yards of offense.

In the second half, Perham utilized a lot of different players and were held off the scoreboard. The Patriots avoided the shutout scoring early in the fourth quarter on a Caden Nelson 3-yard run.

The Patriots finish the regular season at 1-7 (0-7 Midwest Red) and will open the 7AAA playoffs Tuesday night on the road. Perham wraps up the regular season at 5-3 (4-3 Midwest Red) and will compete in the 8AAA playoffs.
