Pillager at Pequot Lakes
Recap
A huge run to start the game and a swarming defense led Pequot Lakes to their eighth straight win over the Pillager Huskies.
The Patriots burst out to a 14-0 lead in the opening four minutes of the contest. A second 14-0 run in the first half put the Patriots up 33-7, and the teams went into the locker room with the lead 44-12 for the home squad.
To Pillager’s credit, they fought in the second half. After another fast start by the Patriots that pushed the lead to 40 at 54-14, a Pillager run of 12-0 shortly after had their crowd and bench fired up despite the large margin. The teams played evenly the rest of the way with Pequot Lakes going on to the win 70-46.
The Patriots, winners of six straight, are 7-2 and travel to Thief River Falls Friday night. The Huskies see their three game win streak snapped, are back to .500 at 5-5 and host PRC rival Menahga Friday night.
