Thief River Falls 65 Ada-Borup-West 68

The Ada-Borup-West Cougars dealt the Thief River Falls Prowlers their first loss of the season with a 68-65 win. An 8-0 run in the first half gave the Prowlers early control of the game. Jack Manning had 22 points in the first half for the Prowlers to help control the interior and lead 43-34 at the break. In the second half the Cougar defense focused on the interior to try to limit the Prowler offense from getting going, while the Cougar offense began to attack the basket. The Cougars would take the lead after Austin McCraven took charges on back to back possessions for Prowler turnovers, and then slipped off the defense on the low block for a basket and a 60-58 lead with 4:30 remaining. The Cougars went six-for-six from the free throw line to hold back the Prowlers, but Thief River Falls was able to force a pair of late turnovers to give themselves a chance to tie the game. They were able to get two good looks at potential game tieing three-pointers, but both rimmed off and the Cougars took the 68-65 win.
