Project Linus “Make a blanket day” in Gary

A Project Linus “Make a Blanket Day” of the Norman/Mahnomen Counties Chapter will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026 at the Good News Church in Gary.

Project Linus is a volunteer non-profit organization with a two-fold mission.

  • First, it is our mission to provide a sense of security, love, comfort and warmth to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new handmade, washable blankets and quilts lovingly crafted by volunteers.
  • Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities for the benefit of children. Quilts and blankets will be assembled, for children in stressful situations at “Make A Blanket Day”.

All interested volunteers are invited to attend.

Anyone who would like to participate is invited to join in this fun project from 9:00am to 3:30pm. Community involvement is vital to the success of this event. Materials will be provided to assemble quilts and blankets. Volunteers are asked to bring a scissors for their use.

Blankets and quilts will be donated to local hospitals, social services and other agencies which serve children.

The Norman/Mahnomen Counties Chapter of Project Linus began in November 2008.
