The Hillsboro/Central Valley Burros were able to take advantage of a short field after their defense intercepted the Lisbon Broncos late in the third quarter to score the go-ahead Touchdown for the 14-8 victory. The Burros found the endzone first with a 72-yard drive to open the game with Peter Dryburgh going up to haul in a 24-yard Touchdown pass from Riley Olsen for the 7-0 lead after the successful PAT. Lisbon would respond with a physical 80-yard drive and 1-yard Touchdown run from Quarterback Wyatt Olson followed by a Mike Nelson 2-pt. conversion run for the 8-7 lead with 2:10 remaining in the first quarter. The score would stay the same through the first half and the entire third quarter with both defenses setting up to stop the others’ offensive attack. Late in the Third Quarter Burro Safety Dylan Mitzel would intercept his second pass of the day to give the Burros the ball in Bronco territory. After Dryburgh took a pass down inside the 1-yard line, Fullback Cole Hebl plunged into the endzone and Boeden Allen converted his second PAT to put the Burros on top 14-8 early in the fourth quarter. This time the Bronco offense was unable to respond with a turnover on downs and Dylan Mitzel’s third interception of the game ending Lisbon’s final offensive possessions before the Burro offense converted a first down to run out he clock and take the victory. Hillsboro Central Valley improves to 9-1 overall and will host Oakes next Saturday at 2pm in the Quarterfinals. Lisbon will end their season with a 6-4 overall record.
