The 40th annual Chatauqua and French-Canadian Metis Festival will take place this weekend in Huot, near Red Lake Falls.  There will be a potluck picnic Friday night at 6:30, followed by a bonfire, storytelling and singing by Dan Schmitz.  Twylla Altepeter, editor of the Fertile Journal, talks about Saturday’s events.

Throughout the weekend, artists and artisans will demonstrate woodworking, carving and broom making.  There will also be children’s activities.  The festival wraps up Sunday afternoon at 4:30. The Chautauqua and French-Canadian Metis Festival is free of charge, with donations accepted.  It will be held at Old Crossing and Treaty Park near Huot.  For directions, go online to www.FrenchCanadianAFRAN.org.
