8A Cass Lake-Bena vs Mahnomen-Waubun

Recap

The Mahnomen Waubun Thunderbirds overcame a 17 point 2nd half deficit to knock off the #1 seed in the East Sub Section of 8A Cass Lake Bena 84-80.  The Panthers shot the ball very well in the first half to build a 12 point lead, and would go into the halftime mark leading 44-34.  Cass Lake Bena came out shooting to start eh 2nd half building the lead to 17.  Mahnomen Waubun would then begin the comeback using aggressive offensive of getting the ball inside, and taking smart shots, and defensively getting out on the shooters of the Panthers. Mahnomen Waubun would chip away through out the remainder of the 2nd half eventually bringing the game to a tie at 66 and eventually taking the lead.  The game would go back and forth with several ties and lead changes.  Down the stretch Mahnomen Waubun would get to the free throw line, and make their free throws, while Cass Lake Bena couldnt get their potential game tying 3 to fall and Mahnomen Waubun would go on for the win.  The 4 seeded Thunderbirds will now face Red Lake for the East half Championship.
