Aitkin at Pequot Lakes

It was a good battle in game one of the doubleheader between the Aitkin Gobblers and Pequot Lakes Patriots.

The Gobblers tallied their lone run in the top of the first inning without a hit. Pequot Lakes’ senior pitcher Morgan Eckes then settled in and held the Gobblers to only three hits the rest of the way.

Pequot Lakes took the lead in the home half of the second. With two on and nobody out, Abi Martin smacked a base hit to bring in both runners. Martin then scored herself off an RBI single by Izzy Larson to stake Pequot Lakes to a 3-1 lead.

The Patriots added one more in the bottom half of the fourth as Kelsi Martini lead off with a double, was sacrificed to third and scored on an RBI groundout by Larson.

After the first inning, Aitkin only had two runners the rest of the game that advanced into scoring position.
