Northern Cass fended off the junior varsity of Valley City 60-58 in the semifinals of the Barnes County Girls Basketball Tournament on Thursday night from Valley City State University.

The Hi-Liners erased a 19 point halftime deficit to grab a 1 point lead late in the fourth quarter. Northern Cass responded with Addy Winterquist on the ensuing possesion. Winterquist missed both free-throw attempts but followed her shot and delivered the game winning basket and was fouled in the process to complete the and one opportunity.

Winterquist had 15 points and 7 rebounds off the bench for the Jaguars.

Dacota Potratz paced the Hi-Liners with 15 points as they dropped to 2-1 overall and will play LaMoure-Litchville/Marion for 3rd place at 6 p.m. on Friday.
