The Ada-Borup-West Cougars picked up a season opening win over the Barnesville Trojans 3-0 (25-13, 27-25, 25-17). The Cougars picked up an early lead in the opening set, helpfully sparked by the first serve of the season being an Ace Serve to give them the momentum. Set 2 was a tight contest throughout with 14 ties and both teams having set point opportunities. With the Cougars facing a  17-21 deficit, a timeout followed by a quick kill and ace serve helped them to rally back and win in extra points 27-25. Barnesville started with the lead in Set 3 before the Cougar serving (only one missed serve in the match) brought them back to take the lead and eventual 25-17 victory. Ada-Borup-West starts the season 1-0 and will host Sacred Heart on Thursday while Barnesville falls to 0-1 to start their season. The Trojans will have their home opener versus Detroit Lakes on Thursday.
