Bigfork at North Central
Recap
The North Central Stars took on the Bigfork Huskies in the quarterfinals of the Section 7-9Man playoffs. The Stars took the opening kickoff and went 59 yards for a touchdown as AJ Knaeble caught a 36-yard pass from Seth Donner to take a 6-0 lead. Bigfork drove down the field but failed to score early in the second quarter and the Stars went on an 82 yard drive completed by a 6-yard run by Knaeble to lead 12-0 at the half. Stars DB Kasey Clark intercepted a Bigfork pass on the first possession of the 2nd half and returned it 53 yards for a touchdown and the rout was on. The Stars defense would record a safety on the next Bigfork possession and Donner then threw a 9-yard TD pass to Kaden Elhard and North Central led 30-0 after 3 quarters. Anthony Boorman scored on a 16-yard run and Will Gilbert returned a fumble 30 yards in the 4th quarter as the Stars advance to the semis with a 46-6 drubbing. After the game, co-head Dave Westerman says he felt the Stars were in control of the game despite only leading 12-0 at half.
A balanced rushing attack drove the Stars offense as Marcus Johnson had 6 carries for 64 yards, Wyatt Hell 10 carries for 42 yard, and AJ Knaeble 12 carries for 32 yards. The North Central Stars now face #1 seed Mountain Iron-Buhl on Saturday afternoon at 2:00. These two teams played in Week 3 of the season with the Rangers downing the Stars 54-30.
