BBB  Cavalier at Northern Cass

Northern Cass scored the first ten points of the game, survived a fourth quarter Cavalier rally and defeated the Tornadoes 54-52 in boys basketball Thursday night at Northern Cass.

Northern Cass led 34-25 at halftime and 46-40 after three quarters.  But Cavalier took the lead 47-46 on two JJ Thorpe free throws with 6:03 to play.  Then the Tornadoes’ Ryan Pelletier scored to put Cavalier up 49-46.

The Jaguars’ Landon Moser then made a basket, then hit a three pointer with 1:46 to play to put Northern Cass back in front 51-49.

With Northern Cass inbounding at mid-court with 3.2 seconds to play and leading 53-52, the Jaguars’ Myles Froelich was fouled as he caught the inbound pass.  Froelich then made one of two free throws to seal the win for Northern Cass.

Moser scored 24 points and Trey Husar 22 to lead the Jaguars (3-1).  Northern Cass takes on Stanley next Thursday in Carrington.

Talan Devine led Cavalier (4-1) with 27 points, including five three-pointers.  Thorpe added 13.  The Tornadoes meet Benson County Wednesday night at Northwood.
