Class AA State Quarterfinal: Pequot Lakes vs Albany

For the second straight year, the Pequot Lakes Patriots were sent to the consolation bracket in the State AA Tournament, falling to the #2 seed Albany.

A cold shooting first half saddled the Patriots as they fell behind early 8-2 and trailed by nine at the break 27-18.

In the second half, Albany pushed the lead to 19 at 51-32 under 9:00 to play. The Patriots finally got hot, putting together a 13-2 run highlighted by back-to-back-to-back threes to cut the lead to 53-45. But Albany, as they did for much of the night, had the answer. A 9-0 run quickly bumped the lead back to 17 and the Patriots could not put another run together.

Grant Loge led all scorers with 23, 15 in the second half. Gavin Kennen and Eli Laposky each had ten.

Albany was led by 6’6″ sophomore Sam Hondl with 20 along with five assists and Tysen Gerads had 19.

The consolation semifinal will be on KLKS Talk 100.1 & rjbroadcasting.com Wednesday night. Pregame is set for 7:30pm vs. Plainview-Elgin-Millville at the Ganglehoff Center at Concordia University-St. Paul.
