Clearbrook-Gonvick at Fosston

The Fosston Greyhounds overcame a nine point deficit in the first half and defeated the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears 63-41 Thursday night in Fosston. The Greyhounds trailed 16-7 in the first half and were down 23-21 at halftime. The last lead the Bears had was at 27-26 with 15:38 left in the second half as the Greyhounds took the lead for good at 29-27. Zach Theis led Fosston with 27 points and 5 rebounds as the Greyhounds improved to 23-5 overall. The Greyhounds have won ten of their last twelve games. Carsen Bousee pitched in with 17 points for Fosston as the Greyhounds advance to the Section 8A Quarterfinals. Michael Roy scored 10 points and Ben Goudge added 9 points on three 3 pointers as the Bears end their season at 9-19. It was the second win for Fosston over Clearbrook-Gonvick in less than a week with Fosston winning 71-33 on Friday, March 3rd at Clearbrook-Gonvick. Fosston will play Ada-Borup-West in the 8A Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 11th in Thief River Falls (12:00 noon on 106.5 FM, 96.7 FM and Your Live Event). The Greyhounds defeated the Cougars twice during the regular season including the Pine to Prairie Conference championship game on February 18th. Ada-Borup-West advanced with a 81-51 win over Blackduck Thursday in Ada.
