A late scoring surge from Aitkin and Crosby-Ironton went to the favor of the Gobblers for a 20-13 victory Tuesday in Mid-State Conference action from Aitkin.

Aitkin opened up the scoring with wild-pitch runs coming in the 1st and 2nd inning, leading to a 3-0 advantage. Crosby-Ironton got an early boost with a 2-run home run from Mya Decent in the Top of the 3rd to trail 3-2. Trailing 4-2, the Rangers tallied 3 runs highlighted by Bri Miller and Josie Schaefer RBI singles.

Crosby-Ironton looked to blow open the game in the 5th with 6 runs which came off a 2-run homer from Schaefer, RBI double from Decent, and an RBI groundout from Brooke Johnson. Down 11-4, Aitkin went to by tallying 8 runs in the Bottom of the 5th thanks to RBI singles from Savana Parenteau and Kendall Ratz.

The Rangers would respond in the Top of the 6th despite getting 2 outs early with two more runs coming across to the tie the game 13-13. Aitkin would put the game away with 7 runs in the Bottom of the 6th with a 2-run double from Megan Buchholz, a solo home run and RBI single from Sophie Snyder, and and RBI triple from Parenteau.

Aitkin’s Kendall Ratz came in relief for Buchholz and notched the win in the circle after giving up 2 runs off 2 hits and a walk in 2 innings. Savana Parenteau was 3-for-5 with 2 doubles, 3 runs scored and an RBI. Ella Janzen scored 4 runs and Megan Buchholz drove in 4.

Lili Young pitched a complete game and struck out 4 and walked 4 batters. Decent homered, drove in 4, and scored twice. Schaefer homered, doubled, and drove in 3.

Aitkin snaps a mini 3-game losing streak and sits at 2-3 on the season. Crosby-Ironton is now 1-3.
