The East Polk North Stars jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and went on to defeat Mahnomen/Waubun 6-3 in Greenbush. The Thunderbirds left 16 runners on base and trailed 4-3 before the North Stars scored two runs in the sixth inning to make it 6-3. Lexi Mahlen went 3 for 3 at the plate for East Polk as the North Stars improved to 17-5 overall. Ava Howard added two hits for the North Stars. Emily Zima went 3 for 4 at the plate for the Thunderbirds who end their season at 10-14. The North Stars will next face East Grand Forks Sacred Heart on Tuesday, May 28th at Red Lake Falls (4:00 pm on 96.7FM). The North Stars defeated Sacred Heart 6-3 in their last regular season game.
